LA-based non-profit, Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM), held its second annual celebrity Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood, CA last night. The event was attended by several TV and sports personalities, including two of our favorites – Tenley Molzahn and Kiptyn Locke. Guess who had VIP red carpet access?

Inside the bowling alley, I had the chance to speak with Kip-Ten for a few minutes to get their take on this season of The Bachelor, who they think Brad should choose, Madison’s fangs, Michelle’s crazy antics, and who should be the next Bachelorette. They also gave us their thoughts on why giving back to the community is important to them. See the interview here:

Tenley and Kiptyn were so sweet and made the interview a breeze. Just as the producers can make someone look totally crazy (cough, cough, Michelle…), I often wondered if the producers can make personalities like Kip-Ten seem too good to be true. But after speaking with them and seeing their passion for giving back to the community and mentoring this city’s youth with LATM, I was really impressed with their character.

The bowl-a-thon was a great event for a great cause. Thanks to everyone at LATM for pulling the event together and for dedicating your lives to mentoring the youth of LA. And thank you to our AMAZING photographer and videographer, Matthew Wardenaar. Check out his portfolio here.

When I learned today that there is a Bachelor iPhone and iPad video game app, I immediately dropped everything and downloaded it on both devices. 

So the game goes like this – you go on a series of group dates and one-on-one dates where you have to play games against other contestants to win points that help you earn a rose. For each challenge, Chris Harrison (who apparently really recorded the voiceovers for this app) gives an overview:

Then you get into bikinis and start the challenge…

So far it’s pretty much like the real TV show. Here I am later getting a rose…

Hellzzz yeah!

Pros of App:

• The music and voiceovers are priceless
• The game features real life Bachelors and Bachelorettes
• I haven’t unlocked the fantasy suite yet, but I can imagine this will be great
• Something to do at work

Cons of App:

• You can’t choose which Bachelor you want to fight for. In level one, you’re stuck with Jake Pavelka (presumably the worst Bachelor and perhaps why he’s level one)
• You can’t make your avatar look like you
• On my one-on-one date, the camera panned away while Jake kissed me. WTF.

Oh, the good ol’ hometown dates. Nothing in the history of The Bachelor is more awkward than these episodes. So picking 10 awkward moments from this episode was the easiest blog I’ve ever written. Let’s get to it:

10. Brad sees Chantal’s parents’ house

As soon as Brad and Chantal get out of the car at her parents’ mansion, Brad’s eyes light up with dollar signs and he quickly says, “I’m ready.” Strange – he was so nervous just a few minutes ago.

9. Ashley’s hands

I still can’t stand watching Ashley’s attempt at American Sign Language. Maybe it’s because she’s been speaking French Canadian Sign Language this whole time. This is French Canadian Sign Language for “Spanish and French are two different languages you f*%#ing idiot.”

8. Ashley goes all dentist on Brad

Ashley strategically orders gravy and cheese covered fries so that she can hand feed Brad and get a look at his dental work. “I saw your crown!” Creeeepy.

7. Ashley’s excited to see Brad again

Sometimes when I take the trash out and come back a few minutes later, my dog goes crazy to see me, almost as if she has no sense of time and she thinks I’ve been gone all day. This is like Ashley’s reaction to when she hugs her family and then realizes that Brad is still there at the house with her. She jumps on him screaming and then sits on his lap. Relax, Fido.

6. Brad explains to Emily that she’s only getting a hug tonight

Brad is worried that Emily’s daughter will come downstairs and catch them making out. Was he planning on feeling her up? How hard can it be to stop kissing if you hear her door open? What an idiot. I’m so glad she called him out.

5. Chantal can’t remember her ex’s name

Chantal has a heart-to-heart with her mom where she explains, “Honestly I haven’t felt this since before, you know, when I was with the person I was married to.” You know… whats-his-name. No seriously, what was his name again? LINE!

4. Shawntel shows Brad where she wants to be cremated

I don’t think this one needs an explanation.

3. Brad thinks French and Spanish are essentially the same language

When the French-Canadian waitress asks Brad something in French, he says, “si.” Yeah, you’re on national television you moron. The producers love it.

And the #1 most awkward moment of the Hometown Dates goes to…

1. Shawntel tells her family she won’t be taking over the funeral home business

Remember that timeline Mary put together a few weeks ago? Well thanks to our friend Grant England, it looks all pretty and stuff now. In fact, it looks so pretty that Myspace.com featured it on their homepage today along with Danielle’s Bachelor Curator page.

This has nothing to do with the fact that we know someone who works at Myspace and everything to do with the fact that Mary is a pure genius and Grant is an amazing designer.
